Thanksgiving with Miss Valerie

The sun is shining and I'm just resting as I heard that Thanksgiving Day had arrived.

This is my very first Thanksgiving, now what do I do?
What fun to ride the turkey....what? Not a turkey but a rooster?
I will supervise the brownie making! Nuts for me please

Ah, hot from the oven! I think I'll get started... What did you say? No brownies until I've cleaned my dinner plate?
Oh, I could just dive into this wonderful pumpkin mix, it smells sooooooooooooo good!
The little crusts are ready for the pumpkin filling!
You have a little more filling in this one than that one!

Oh! I have to wait that long for a little pie?

I'm really not sad, crying over chopping all the onions for the dressing!

Just how many potatoes must I peel?

Sweet potatoes need peeling too? I'm an expert now!
I've done a good job, they will taste good when cooked

I even made some fresh cranberry sauce. Valerie tells me that the special dish is for fancy dinners and holds the cranberry sauce. She remembers it from her childhood!
Polish the silver and set the table? Boy Thanksgiving is hard work!

I think I have set a proper table.....am I dessert? NOT!
Now for the center piece. I think I'll hide and take a rest!

Turkey is plump and golden. I can't wait for my share!
The Thanksgiving Turkey wishbone is dried and saved for Christmas, when two people can make their wish! I know what my wish will be!

The dishes are clean now. Thank goodness for a dishwasher! I'm running out of energy.

Take out the Trash!!! When do I get a break?

And now, for a little nap with Kody-Cat.

Thanksgiving

I'm from Perth Australia and I've heard about Thanksgiving in the USA. What is all this fuss over turkey?

Hey gobblers, tell me, why is turkey served on this special day? "Well Bucket, when the pilgrims celebrated fall in 1621 they served turkey and seafood along with vegetables from an abundant harvest. Then in 1863 President Lincoln proclaimed that the 4th Thursday in November be called Thanksgiving, a day set aside to be with family and to be thankful. Serving turkeys has remained the icon for the day, served in an elegant style, usually on a big platter surrounded by vegetables and loads of cranberry sauce."

Turkey is the meal...not me!

I must help select the table decorations. Lovely fall leaves and berries along with gourds and little pumpkins.
Now what is this? I thought pumpkins were yellow or orange....is someone pulling my leg?

To accompany a wonderful meal, I must select the right wine.

Go Team Go...I think it best to cheer on the team whose state I'm visiting!

BaBa-Loooooo Music that creates a little excitement in the store!

Little birds told me that the trees would soon be changing colors, dropping their laeves and time for me to return to AU for Christmas

Yummm, this is the place for me! The frosting is a a little hard!

Eeyore, my buddy, or am I being surrounded by them? What goes? —
Oh pretty lady, will you serve me some tea?

I've been in the dog house... but a toad hut?
Maybe some of the luck will rub off; I hear peacocks bring you luck!

You never know when you will see a mermaid, this gals is quite far from the ocean

Shabby Sheik coat or hat hangers? Getting lots of ideas for future projects! Now if I can just remember them all.

Now what is this? Shells, nuts and doo-dads

Massive bear sculpture at Cabela's Outdoor Sportsman Outfitters in Dundee, Michigan. I am thinking I will keep my distance!

Hard to tell how big these bears are from a distance. They are the World's largest bronze outdoor wildlife sculpture, called 'Fierce Encounter' is a sculpture of two giant 24 foot high wrestling bears. Dundee,Michigan
Everyday I take time to meditate!

And so my story started at home. You can read all about how my adventures began in the newly published "Bucket's Adventures" children's book.
I will be home soon

Blissfield Antique Mall is one of the favorite spots. The floors of the old building squee

More quaint shops to discover

I see how it is done! I know where the old glassware is, get out the glue Mum, I'm coming home for Christmas and I will make you one!

What are these strange flowers? They call them yard art.

Can we make some of these glass flowers for our yard Mum?

What is this? I have never seen such a strange piece of equipment!

All that I have been eating lately I think I will weigh myself!

If I learn to type fast enough, maybe I can help Mum write her next article and book! A-S-D-F-A-S-D-F-A-S-D-F- Wow, I'm pretty good with one paw!

WHAT? I'm not sure I want to go in this store! Oh, now I see, it is a shop filled with baby clothes! Whew, I was worried for a moment!!!

Let me rest with a cool stein of beer - what? They are all empty? What's this world coming too?

After running around town, my fir was a bit smelly...but then I could not decide on which soap would be best; one that wouldn't fuzz up my fur

Now this is more like it.... I don't think anyone will spot me taking a nap between feed sacks!

This bed beckons me too, wonder where the lovely gal is?

I want to rest and this old fashioned bed seems quite comfortable
 —

I'm so tired, my feet hurt. Maybe I can take a nap here

Jan is taking a closer look, wonder what she's finding?

I met some lovely ladies in one shoppe.

What fun, the General Store. A place I can poke around in, wonder if they have candy?
